Cooking Techniques
Getting that perfect golden color on your chicken is super easy! When sautéing, make sure your pan is nice and hot before adding the oil – you’ll hear a gentle sizzle when the chicken hits the pan.
Don’t move the chicken pieces around too much; letting them sit for those 3-4 minutes helps create that beautiful brown crust.
A quick tip: if your chicken pieces are thicker, just lower the heat and give them an extra minute or two to cook through.
Easy Substitutions
No tahini in your pantry? You can use smooth peanut butter instead – it’ll give you a similar creamy texture with a slightly different but equally yummy flavor.
For the soya sauce, tamari makes a great swap and keeps it gluten-free. If honey isn’t your thing, maple syrup or agave nectar work beautifully.
Want to make it dairy-free? Try coconut yogurt or a dollop of dairy-free sour cream on top!
Serving Suggestions
While this dish is amazing with pita bread or rice, you can get creative with your sides! Try it over a bed of fresh greens for a light lunch, or serve it with roasted vegetables for dinner.
The sauce is so good you might want to make extra – it’s perfect for drizzling over everything on your plate!
For a pretty presentation, sprinkle some fresh herbs like parsley or mint on top, and add a wedge of lemon on the side.
Storage Tips
Made too much? Lucky you! This chicken stays tasty in the fridge for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
Just warm it gently in a pan with a splash of water to keep it from drying out. The tahini-honey sauce might thicken up in the fridge – that’s totally normal. Just give it a good stir and add a tiny bit of warm water to bring it back to life.

Chicken breasts with Tahini and Honey
Equipment
- Large saucepan
- paper towel
- knife
- Cooking brush
- Oven tray
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts
- 1 tbsp soya sauce
- 1 tbsp tahini
- 1 tbsp honey
- salt and freshly ground pepper
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1 yogurt
- 4 pita breads
Instructions
- Wash thoroughly the chicken breasts and dry them with a paper towel.
- Use a knife to cut the chicken breasts into large pieces (each one 3-4 pieces).
- Place a large saucepan on high heat and add 2 tablespoons olive oil. Sauté the chicken breasts, for 3-4 minutes on each side, until nicely coloured. Add the soya sauce and stir. Sauté for 1 more minute, until cooked through (there should be no sign of pink). If the pieces are thick, turn the heat down and cook a little bit longer.
- Remove the pan from the heat and add the tahini and honey and stir well. Let the chicken rest for 2 minutes and serve with a full spoon of yogurt on top. Serve with rice or pita breads.
- To prepare the pita breads, use a cooking brush to oil the pita breads on both sides and season with salt and oregano. Place a large oven tray (upside down) at the bottom of the oven and place the pita breads on top of the tray. Bake in preheated oven at 250C for 1-2 minutes.
